Core purpose
A score is quick but cannot explain why a reader liked or disliked a work. Reviews preserve full text, reviewed subject, release and community context, and optionally one or more structured scores.
Reviews remain Posts, so they can use Portable Text, multilingual content, attribution, Realm context, replies, collections, sharing, and publication history.
What is available now
- Review a work or another identifiable Unit.
- Write contextual long-form judgment in Portable Text.
- Choose a Realm publication context for different community discussions.
- Attach Realm-contextual scores.
- Present the review on its detail page, work review area, and content feeds.
- Continue discussion through replies without losing the review’s identity.
How reviews and scores work together
Scores provide consistent scales and aggregation; reviews provide reasons, evidence, limits, and reading experience. They can work together but cannot impersonate one another. Community totals retain Realm and source rather than becoming context-free work facts.
In development
Release targeting, cross-language review discovery, spoiler controls, ordering, and recommendation will improve while respecting content language, Realm rules, and user preferences.
Relationships and boundaries
Reviews do not rewrite work metadata or convert personal judgment into public fact. An image-heavy critique is still a review; a product role follows what the content does, not its media count.
