Chapter 4 Adaptations

One story, four forms.

On REZICS, a novel, manga, anime, and game are each their own work. Named relationships connect them, so you can follow a manga back to its source or forward to its adaptations.

One example

For example, A Certain Magical Index.

The source is a light novel written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura. REZICS records each form as a separate work and names the relationships between them.

Three sheets in dark green, near-black, and rose are arranged from upper left to lower right, with their corners touching.
  • Light novels

The source work. The original series, New Testament, and Genesis Testament are linked in order as sequels.

  • Manga

Adapted from the light novel and drawn by Chuya Kogino.

  • Anime

Also adapted from the light novel, with progress tracked separately from the manga.

  • A Certain Scientific Railgun

A spin-off with its own manga, later adapted into anime.

  • Games

One is a visual novel, linked to the visual novel kind.

This example shows how REZICS records a work. It does not imply any partnership or license.

Relationships

Every relationship has a name.

  • Adapted from

A novel, anime, or game adapted into manga, or manga adapted into another form.

  • Sequel / prequel

A story that continues from or leads into another work.

  • Spin-off

A side story or a supporting character’s story linked to the main work.

  • Rewritten from

When an author rewrites a work and the story no longer matches the original, it is a separate work.

  • Rebooted from

A new version that tells the story again from the beginning.

  • Reading order

A story order can exist alongside publication order.

Unconfirmed relationships are marked unconfirmed. They are left open rather than forced.

Separate progress

Finishing the anime does not advance manga progress.

Track anime and manga progress separately. Filter manga and anime reviews separately too, and keep each score tied to the people who rated that work.

When two versions differ, Wiki+ can record both accounts. Each fact names its version, and what you see depends on your progress.

Each form stands on its own and remains connected.
